Hunak هناك, meaning "there" in Arabic was a research-based contemporary dance piece that explored questions of culture, identity, and conflict in Israel/Palestine. This work centered around seeking understanding/ humanization through observation, self-reflection, transnational collaboration and identifying cross-cultural parallels.
This show was presented as part of the Missouri State University Dept of Theatre and Dance Fall 2018 Studio Series and was being funded by the "Mid East Meets Midwest" grant provided by Missouri State University's department of Middle Eastern Studies.
In this performance, we were honored to welcome Palestinian musician Omar Zinaty who composed the music and shared the stage with the dancers. It was choreographed and conceptualized by Brittney Banaei.
